GENERAL
INTERPRETATION
| 1. |
In this Act, unless the
context otherwise requires-- |
|
"Administrator" means
the Maritime Administrator appointed under section
4; |

"Authority" means the
Vanuatu Maritime Authority established by the Maritime Authority Act No. 29 of
1998 |

"Commissioner" means the
Commissioner of Maritime Affairs appointed under section 12 of the Maritime
Authority Act No. 29 of 1998; |

"Deputy Commissioners"
mean the Deputy Commissioners appointed under section
3; |
|
"documented" means
registered, enrolled or licensed; |
|
"dollars" mean United
States dollars; |

"foreign trade" means
trade between Vanuatu and a foreign country or between one foreign country and
another and includes transportation of goods between the ports of Vanuatu and
ports of foreign countries and between the ports of one foreign country and
another"; |

"Minister" means the
Minister responsible for the Register of Ships and
Seafarers |

within the meaning of
the Maritime Authority Act No. 29 of 1998; |

"ship's document" means
the Certificate of Registry whether permanent or provisional;
and |

"Special Agent" means a
Special Agent appointed under section 3A. |
