Cracking Down on Polluters!!! PDF Print E-mail

The European Maritime Safety Agency will be cracking down on illegal discharges and accidental oil spills at sea starting April 2007.

The new technology is called CleanSeaNet which is a satellite detection system for oil spill. It will take no longer than 30 minutes for the pollution control authorities to receive the data from the satellite alerting them of any discharge.

This system will cover the Baltic Sea, North Sea and areas around the UK, Mediterranean Sea, West European waters and the Western Black Sea.
