05082.SPL - July 25, 2005 All fishing vessels that have been issued Vanuatu Certificates of Seaworthiness and/or International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificates and/or certificates that require renewal on or before their expiry/anniversary date must be presented for inspection/survey prior to those dates. Failure to present the vessel violates the Vanuatu Maritime Regulations, Sections 16 and 33, as applicable.
Vessels not presented within 3 months of the expiry/anniversary dates of the certificates will be penalized $1000 for the first offense, $2500 for the second offense, $5000 for the third, and so on, in addition to any penalties imposed by any legitimate Port State Control regime. Vessels found operating with expired certificates are subject to suspension and possible deletion from the registry. If you have any questions or comments please fell free to contact Tom Horan.
