04072.GEN - September 1, 2004Please find enclosed documentation and training requirements for non self-propelled mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU) personnel: barge supervisors, maintenance supervisors, assistant maintenance supervisors, ballast control operators, and offshore installation managers.
The cornerstone of these procedures is based on IMO’s Assembly Resolution A.891(21), and the general practice of the industry as codified in US and other legislation. These procedures will ensure the seamen serving on these units have the proper knowledge, experience, training, and underlying documentation. Please review these procedures before submitting any applications to determine if the applicant meets the requirements of the position. All maritime crew members on self-propelled mobile offshore drilling units must meet the requirements of the STCW Convention as amended.
